NaNoWriMo
My friend recently brought to my attention an interesting little contest being run through some "web site". The goal of the contest is to write a 50,000 word novel (roughly 175 pages) over the course of the month. Seeing as how I'm thinking of seriously pursuing writing, I decided this would be a nice test of my abilities, and also just a nice exercising of my creative muscle. So I entered the contest. It should be interesting, but I wonder if I can really keep to a strict regimen of 1600 words a day. Well, should be interesting to see what happens, like I said.
If you're curious, you can follow my progress here.
The story is called "Lie for Lie", a tale of the world broken into two nations, one bound to science and reason, the other to religion and emotion. The novel will be broken down into 8 Acts, as I see it. I will probably upload them to my deviantArt account as they are finished, and when all is said and done...well, one step at a time, ok?
This really excites, because I would love to be able to finish this story which I've had in my head for a few months now. Hopefully it turns out as interesting on paper as it seems in my head.
Also a note, for anyone who keeps up with me on this: it takes me several days (and I presume most writers) to write a polished 1,500 word chapter. If I am to write 50,000 words in 30 days, some quality will sacrificed (indeed, nanowrimo.com admits this on their website). So...just prepare yourself. This could be very, very bad. =P
